Here is a natural hair coloring recipe for your gray hair. I have read the most about the use of henna and sage, but here is a recipe that uses Trifala Churna. Although the recipe is not complete it does give us enough to go on.

Natural Hair coloring recipe for gray hair using sage.

You can use Sage and Rum to get rid of your gray hair. This is a gentle way over time to color gray hair. You will need :

4 tablespoons of dried sage
1 pint of boiling water
4 teaspoons of rum
1 ounce glycerin
A few drops of vitamin E

Bring 1 pint of water to boil, then take pot off of burner and put sage into the hot water. Let steep for 2 hours. Strain out the sage into a jar and then add the rum, glycerin, and vitamin E to the water. Do not forget to put a label on the jar. Using a cotton pad each day rub the darkener into your scalp. This way over time you can control how much of your gray you will get rid of.

Natural Hair coloring recipe for gray hair using Trifala Churna

Trifala Churna the same Medicine that is used for the digestive tract.

This was sent in by Chandraprakash.

It's name trifala churna is used for digestive tract. I am using Zandu's trifala churna. I have also just started using it. It has to be mixed with water in lokhandi kadai (raw steel pot), for minimum 24 hrs. The mixture will start getting blackish in color. This is to be applied on hair for 2 to 3 hrs.

The frequency shall be 2/3 times in a week for first 6 months & then 1/2 times in a week for next 6 months & then as per result, we have to make the schedule. Due to my busy schedule, last week I could not apply, but I found it will be useful. Time will prove how much it is effective.

But one thing is sure, it is not bad for hair as trifala churna is good for health. I also want hair oil, that can be applied on hair after bath which willbe an additional advantage for making the hair black.

I'm not sure how much trifala churna Chandraprakash put in the water. This is the first time that I have heard of using trifala churna for coloring. She said she would let me know how it goes.

The best oil that I have found for hair is Argan Oil.

Natural Hair coloring recipe for gray hair using Henna

The higher the ratio of henna powder to water, the deeper the color you will get for your hair. When using henna on your hair it can be drying, rub a little oil ( Argan Oil works well) into your scalp before using the henna.

Tips

When working with henna always wear gloves.
Do not use metal bowls or metal untensils.
Wrap an old towel around your shoulders, henna will stain just about everything.

Recipe

A 1/2 to 1 cup pure henna powder. Henna will come in different colors.
1 cup of boiling water
1 to 3 teaspoons apple cider vinegar

For dark hair you can start by placing 3 tea bags ( black tea or Ceylon) into the boiling water and allowing them to steep for a few minutes.

You will want to start with clean dry hair. Mix the henna and other ingredients in a ceramic or plastic bowl. Stirring the mixture until it is thickened to the consistency of wallpaper paste. You will put the vinegar in at the end

Using hair clips, separate your hair into 1 inch wide sections. Wearing gloves, dip a paintbrush into the henna and cover your entire head. Massage to distribute the henna evenly throughout your hair. Cover using a plastic shower cap. Try to keep your head warm by sitting out in the sun or wrapping in a warm, wet towel around the shower cap.

The longer you leave the mixture in the darker the color. Leave in for at least 45 minutes and up to 3 hours. Rinse your hair until the water runs clear. Then wash with a mild shampoo.

If you have a recipe that you use to color your gray hair send it in and I will post it.
