After Sun Preparations

All the major sun product companies make after sun preparations. Because the sun dries out the skin it is important to moisturize your skin after being out in the sun. Adding moisturize goes some way towards preventing peeling (it literally sticks dead skin cells together temporarily, making it more difficult for them to fall off); it helps preserve your tan (because if skin loses moisture more of the top layers peel off). The skin needs moisturizing after all the swimming, salt water and washing that goes with sunbathing.

Most  after sun preparations can be used on the face as well as the body. Although most are based on oil and water emulsions. The range of products runs slightly stringent gels whose coolness is welcome after a hot day in the sun, but provide less moisturize, to heavier or lanolin containing creams. All will moisturize, so choose one that is hypo-allergenic if you have sensitive skin, or whichever one smells and feels best to you. Ingredents that are good are aloe vera, avocado, shea butter and cocoa butter.

Although do not use these products as sun protection, they do not contain sunscreens and will not stop burning.

After Sun Preparations with Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is a sub-tropical succulent of the lily family, known for centuries as a healing agent and as an aid to beauty. If the tip of an aloe vera leaf is snipped off, gel can be squeezed out.

The gel contains vitamins B1, B2 and B6, calcium, potassium, chlorine, enzymes, and other as yet unidentified active ingredients. It is antibiotic, astringent, coagulating and sun filtering properties. Helpful in promoting healing, it can be applied to burnt or blemished skin, and can evwn beused to assist healing in the mouth. Used internally, pure aloe vera seems anti-inflammatoryeffects, aiding digestion and alleviating bowl disorders. Its versatlility means it is included in hair, face sun and bath products. Being one ingredient that should be in your After Sun Preparations.
