Here are some Hair Healthy tips from News Canada....
A fresh shade of colour brightens any look and adds richness to one's style. But the summer sun, salt water or chlorine can often make hair look dull, feel like straw and fade hair colour. Susan Boccia, a national trainer for Schwarzkopf Professional, offers some tips for keeping hair healthy and shiny all summer long.
. Wear a hat whenever possible to protect hair colour from fading and hair from drying out. (Extra hint: visors look cool but don't protect your hair at all. Cover up.).
. Braid hair or wear a ponytail when swimming. It will protect some of your hair from chlorine or salt water effects.
. Rinse hair immediately after swimming in chlorinated water and use a conditioner with a low pH value (about 3.5) to smooth the cuticle and lock colour particles in.
. Protect your hair from UV rays to preserve great new colour. Use hair products with UV protectants in them like BC Sun Guardian.
. Use high gloss styling products like OSiS Sparkler shine spray; they make dark colours appear richer and blonde hair sparkle in the sun.
. Don't brush you hair every time you get out of the water. Wet hair is susceptible to breaking and stretching. If you must untangle your hair, spritz hair with a leave-in conditioner first and then use a wide-tooth comb to gently untangle working from bottom to top.
