Moisturizers Tips for Men

Here is a article for moisturizers that will help men

Dry Skin Solution for Men

By Joqtan Anicama

Ah yes, the Christmas melodies playing on the radio, the snow falling and covering the city with a white blanket and the harsh cold winds blowing against your face ripping it apart!

Dry Skin Solution for Men

Not everything this time of year is “merry”. Aside from gaining some weight after the Christmas dinner, our skin is also affected this time of year with the cold winds. Tons of guys get dry skin this time of year and of course chapped lips as well. So what’s a man to do?

The most common mistake people make when it comes to caring for winter skin is spending too much time in hot water. After hours in sub-zero temperatures, nothing feels better than jumping in a steamy shower. But though the water is wetting your skin, the heat is drying it out. If you’re going to take long showers, keep them lukewarm. Hot baths are worse, says Dr. Stephen Webster, a dermatologist at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisc.

“If you have a greasy frying pan, you put it in hot, soapy water to remove the grease,” Webster says. “If you put a child in hot, soapy water, you remove all of the natural oils. The same goes for adults.”

Once you’re out of the shower, you’ve got only three minutes to pat dry and apply moisturizer to retain the water in your skin. Even five or 10 minutes is too long to wait–most of the moisture will have evaporated. The same goes for moisturizing right after washing your hands, Webster says.

With so many moisturizers to choose from, picking one can be difficult. But I must stress that men MUST by moisturizers for men. Don’t settle for any moisturizer, remember than a man’s skin is different from womens. For women, moisturizers include creamier, more fragrant products, while for men it’s usually less greasy ones.

Here are our Top 5 picks for Moisturizers this Winter of 2007:

1. The Art of Shaving: Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin
2. Sharps Barber and Shop: Daily Prep Oil-Free Lotion SPF 15
3. Peter Thomas Roth: Oil-Free Moisturizer
4. Jack Black: Double-Duty Face Moisturizer, SPF 20
5. Murad: Skin Perfecting Lotion

Keeping your skin moist this winter will take a little effort, but it will go a long way.

Oh yeah and unless you want to have cracked lips all winter, invest a couple of bucks on a men’s lip balm, unless you want those cherry flavored one’s they sell at CVS.
