Exfoliating Facial Mask Recipes

By Biljana Drake

An exfoliating facial mask recipe has to have an enzyme or an ingredient that will be able to gently, yet powerfully remove the dead skin cells.

Pineapple is my favorite. It contains bromelain, an enzyme that removes the dead cells and cleanses the pores. It is an astringent and helps close dilated pores while making the skin look refreshed.

Pineapple exfoliating facial mask

Ingredients

  • 4 large pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 cup canned and drained pineapple
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil

Preparation

Using a blender, blend all the ingredients until the mix is smooth.
Apply on the face and leave on for 15 minutes.
Rinse well and pat dry.

Papaya facial mask

Papaya is a strong exfoliating agent, although it does not smell all that nice ☺ Egg white in this mask tones the skin and honey helps it retain the moisture.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 ripe papaya, skinned and seeded
  • 1 beaten egg white
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Preparation

Simply mix all the ingredients together.
Carefully, so you don’t touch the eyes, apply the mask on the face and leave on for 20 minutes.
Rinse well and pat dry.

Stimulating clay mask

Clay masks are probably what everyone thinks of when talking about facial masks. They are basic and highly efficient.

This exfoliating facial mask removes dead skin cells and at the same time absorbs any excess oil. Yogurt and honey in it help moisturize, nourish and protect the skin.
Store this mask in a glass jar or plastic container and refrigerate.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon cosmetic clay
  • 2 teaspoons of yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of honey

Preparation

Combine all the ingredients and apply on the face.
Leave on for 15 minutes.
Rinse off using warm water. Pat dry.
